About Dan

Dan Chadwick, Kindred Cocktails Curator, Kindred Cocktails, Boston, MA

As may be apparently from many of the cocktails that I've posted here, I am a huge lover of bitter, complex, and adventurous cocktails. My favorite cocktail profile is probably the sweet/sour/bitter combination, such as in the fabulous Paper Airplane. I also love smokey Scotch and enjoy mixing with it in both dashes and ounces. That's not to say I don't love a classic Manhattan or Martini or Aviation.

Kindred Cocktails is my passion. I believe in the fellowship of the cocktail-lovers and I hope that this site creates a community of like-minded folks where sharing and collaborating flourishes.

Previously I was the author and co-creator of FileMaker, the database for the Apple Macintosh and of In Control, the personal and group to-do list manager, also for the Macintosh. For a time I was the co-owner of a very high-end residential audio/video store, Goodwin's High End in Waltham, MA. I've appeared on This Old House, handling a complex audio, video and lighting control system for the modern Cambridge house and as an audio/video expert on Inside This Old House. I myself live in a 60's era Bauhaus-style home where I've done much of the maintenance and restorations. I teach high performance driving for the BMW Car Club of America (Boston Chapter) and other organizations. I and a team of fellow instructors campaign a rusty '89 Mustang in an endurance racing series for "Crapcans," the 24 Hours of Lemons. Not LeMans. Lemons.
