Lunazul is a brand of tequila made at the Tierra de Agaves distillery in Tequila, Mexico, but imported by the Heaven Hill company, in Bardstown, Kentucky. It was founded in 2002 by Francisco Beckmann, who was a former co-owner of Jose Cuervo. The Beckmann family has been in the tequila business for 200 years, and Lunazul is now run by Jorge Beckmann, who respresents the eighth generation of the family.
Lunazul is estate grown, and made from 100% blue agave. The tequilas are double distilled. Currently, they produce a [ingredient=blanco-tequila blanco] and a [ingredient=reposado-tequila reposado] tequila, but they plan to release an [ingredient=anejo-tequila aƱejo] tequila in April, 2011.
