Pikesville is a brand of rye whiskey originally from a small town near Pikesville, Maryland, but now made in Kentucky by the Heaven Hill company. Like most brands of whiskey distilled in the United States, there are only a few distillers that make dozens of different labels.

Historically, there were two types of rye whiskey: Pennsylvania, which was richer and more intense, and Maryland, a lighter, more delicate version.

The history of Pikesville Rye is difficult and complex. The Winand brothers established a distillery in Scott's Level, Maryland in the 1890's, only to see Prohibition put an end to distilling. The brand was bought in 1936 by Andrew Merle, who didn't own a still, but contracted the recipe out to a company in Baltimore.

Pikesville was produced in Maryland until 1972. With demand slowing and prices for raw materials rising, Andrew's son Andrew Jr. sold the brand name to Heaven Hill in 1982, and the name changed from Pikesville Maryland Rye to Pikesville Supreme Rye.

Pikesville shares a mash bill with Rittenhouse, another rye brand owned by Heaven Hill.
