Combier is a producer of liqueurs based in Saumur, in the heart of the Loire Valley of France. Combier was founded in the 1830's by Jean-Baptiste Combier and his wife, who was a confectioner by trade. Their first product, an [ingredient=orange-liqueur orange liqueur], was invented in 1834 by combining sweet and bitter orange peels, herbs and spices, and alcohol. This was the first [ingredient=triple-sec Triple Sec].
Today, Combier makes three products that are available in the United States: their Triple Sec, a cherry liqueur called Roi Rene Rouge, and Royal Combier, which is a cognac based orange and herb flavored liqueur.
