Ilegal Mezcal is a brand of [ingredient=mezcal mezcal] made in Oaxaca, Mexico at Destileria Tlacolula, based in Antigua, Guatemala, and imported into the United States by Frederick Wildman. Ilegal is made from agave espadin using traditional methods, and is double distilled in a pot still. All of the Ilegal mezcal are bottled at 80 proof.

Ilegal Reposado is aged for 4 months in a combination of new oak and used whisky barrels. It picks up smoke and creamy buttery notes from the wood, along with a lot of sweet creme brulee flavors.
Ilegal Añejo is aged for a year in a combination of new oak and used whisky barrels. It is incredibly rich, with toffee bacon aromas and flavors, and notes of [ingredient=bourbon Bourbon] on the finish.
