Elisir M.P. Roux is a contemporary herbal liqueur invented by Michel Roux and flavored with fourteen herbs and spices: Bitter Almond, Lemon Balm, [ingredient=cinnamon Cinnamon], Diamiana, Ginseng, Lemon, Nutmeg, wild Angelica, Garden Balsam, [ingredient=coriander Coriander], Fennel, Hyssop, Marjoram, and [ingredient=star-anise Star Anise].
The flavor reflects the complexity of its botanicals, with an complex presentation of pie spice and sweet herbs, with a touch of anise (but not so much as to offend anise-haters). It is dark amber in color and quite sweet. If unavailable, use consider Yellow Chartreuse as a substitute, perhaps with a bit of falernum for spice.
Elisir M.P. Roux is bottled at 94 proof and comes in a 1 liter, rather than 750 ml, size. It is imported into the United States by Crillon Importers.
