History
As the story was shared with me, this is a drink born out of the intersection of the bartender's personal preference for vodka over gin, and availability of Aperol over Campari. Apparently it was lovingly adopted in the aftermath. The name reflects the notion that its creator still thinks of it as a Negroni, in spite of the questionable lineage.
