I am going to curate this to correct the reference and year. Harry Johnson's Bartender Manual didn't have 267 pages until 1900 revised edition, so the 1882 year is wrong, and this is from the 1900 edition. This makes sense with Wondrich's 2007 statement about the Tuxedo Club (est. 1886) being the origin of the cocktail, and to a different spec. I will also change for format for noting extra dashes.

    Nice but little too sweet.

Delicious "Fall flavors" drink, with a very clean and well-balanced note of lemon. It has been re-named, likely for obvious reasons, as Le Moustache on the cocktail list at the Walrus & the Carpenter, where it was created. Cheers!

This is one of the recipes that I uncovered from Dutch Kill's online recipe flashcard sets (that they have since locked or deleted). This recipe was dated 2024:

This is a remarkably delicious drink! But I'm not convinced that the presence of egg white demands a dry shake. Has anyone else ignored that edict and simply shaken an egg-white drink in a conventional manner, all ingredients with the ice?
