Cocoa Puff Smash

2 oz Herbal liqueur, Green Chartreuse (Cocoa Puff-infused)
1⁄2 oz Crème de Cacao, Tempus Fugit
3 wdg Lemon
8 lf Mint
Instructions

Muddle lemon wedges and mint leaves, add the rest of the ingredients and shake with ice, double strain over ice in a rocks glass, garnish with Cocoa Puffs and mint, serve with straws.

Notes

Cocoa Puff-infused Chartreuse: crush 4 oz Cocoa Puffs and shake vigorously in a bottle of Chartreuse, letting sit for at least an hour. Strain, bottle, refrigerate.

Beta Cocktails by Maks Pazuniak and Kirk Estopinal

Are you a bartender that wants to find that one drink to add to your menu to make your local cocktail nerd swoon? Or maybe you're the jaded home mixer who's tried so many Manhattan variations you are sure they are running out of areas of New York? Behold: Beta Cocktails. Originally published in 2009 as Rogue Cocktails, the book is a collaboration between Maks Pasuniak and Kirk Estopinal, who met while tending bar in New Orleans. They combined a handful of their own recipes with some of their favorite boundary-pushing offerings from their colleagues and slapped the whole thing together as a self-published mini-book. Everything seemed great until Rogue Brewery came calling with a trademark infringement complaint, and Beta Cocktails was born.

    I agree that it's a bit high on the citrus, so more tart than sweet, but I'm okay with that. Not terribly complex but not quite a juice bomb either. I feel like the Heering comes through in a subtle way, and adding a bit more tames the acid but adds too much of the cherry syrupy-ness.

    A touch sweet. If I were to remake this again, I would do 1/2 oz orgeat and 1/2 oz Cynar. Made me think of the Turnbuckle albeit with different proportions and different tropical note (pineapple vs. passion).
