Followed 1 oz gin 1/2 Suze. Balanced.
Made with mezcal. 3.5 stars if I could
Increased gin to 1 oz, reduced Suze to 0.5 oz, added salt to coupe rim, garnish with lavender sprig. — ★★★★
Not bad; nice flavor change
Made with Amère Sauvage (reduced to 1/2oz with gin boosted to 1oz). Even so reduced, the bitter woodiness was hardcore.
It's hard to not read this next to the Last Word: Suze is more bitter, but less complex and herbal, than Chartreuse. The lemon is also simpler than lime. The result is that the maraschino comes through too forcefully IMHO.
Excellent, though I think it works best with a little more gin and a bit less Suze.
I wanted to just use of the last drops of Suze we had, so went with 1 of everything except 3/4 on the Maraschino, and that made for the perfect balance.
