1 oz Rye
1 oz Cognac
1⁄2 oz Averna
1⁄4 oz Fernet Branca
1⁄4 oz Orange liqueur, Grand Marnier (or Pierre Ferrand Dry Curracao)
1 twst Orange peel
Instructions
Mix with ice, strain into rocks glass, garnish with orange peel

Variation on the original: Needed just a touch of sweetness, hence orange liqueur added.
