1 oz Jamaican rum (See notes)
1 oz Cognac
1 oz Lemon juice
1⁄2 oz Passion fruit syrup
1⁄2 oz Orgeat
1 pn Nutmeg (Freshly grated, as garnish)
Instructions
Whip shake with crushed ice, pour into a Tiki mug, fill with crushed ice, and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and an inverted paper umbrella. The drink would probably do well served up after being shaken and strained into a coupe too with either no garnish or the grating of nutmeg only.
Notes
I went with Coruba, a dark Jamaican rum.
History
For the Tiki the Snow Away month in January 2019, I was inspired by the 1940 Pat O'Brien's Hurricane as a starting point (and not the current bastardization they serve now), and somehow it entered my mind that I could cross it with the Japanese Cocktail from Jerry Thomas' 1862 book. For a name, I opted for the Japanese term for the storm: Harikēn.
