  • With Amer Sauvage and Morgenthaler cordial and Tanq, bracingly bitter. — ★★★
  • Suze is a brilliant move here. Horrible name.

My absolute, numero uno, go-to/everyday cocktail is a G&T! Unless the base liquor is poured from a plastic bottle/jug with a handle, it’s very hard to go wrong on one with me. That said, I’m also a huge fan of Amari and all things herbal and bitter. To my taste, the Suze (something I love with tonic but — ironically — never thought to work into a G&T) is just perfect. I was out of my Fever Tree (not a fan of Q) but luckily had a recently purchased, out of curiosity, a small, 8 oz. bottle of Bradley’s Kina Tonic Old Fashioned Craft Tonic (a cinchona and spice based syrup) and mixed with 4 oz. of lime seltzer. Kina Tonic has a lovely slightly sweet/bitterness that plays very well with the same profile elements of Suze. While I have friends that will send their G&T back at the slightest hint of sweetness — I don’t mind at all if it works and is refreshing. And I’ve tried many of these self-proclaimed "best" or "ultimate" recipes for my beloved evening wind-down but this is, by far, the best I’ve tried yet!
