1 1⁄4 oz Amaretto, Luxardo
1 oz Rye, Bulleit
3⁄4 oz Bitters, Angostura
Instructions

Dry shake all ingredients for 20-30 seconds. Then shake with ice. Double strain over fresh ice in an old fashioned glass. Garnish with wide lemon swath

Best use for amaretto I've found, and I have a huge bottle (luxardo). I would much prefer a Trinidad sour however. The angostura makes the drink and does a reasonable job of tempering the amaretto, but it's still quite sweet/almond extract tasting. In the future I'd just not buy amaretto...


I recommend the Italian Margarita as a use for Amaretto. Swap in lemon for lime typically used for Margaritas, and use Amaretto instead of triple sec or agave syrup, tequila tht you prefer, and rim the glass with sugar instead of salt
