1 oz Cognac, Louis Royer VSOP Force 53
1 oz Amaro, Vecchio Amaro del Capo
1⁄2 oz Strega
1 ds Orange cream citrate
1 twst Lemon peel
1 twst Orange peel
Instructions

Stir all ingredients except garnish in mixing glass with ice until chilled. Strain into rocks glass filled with ice. Express orange and lemon twists into drink and arrange in glass.

Notes

Very well balanced, subtle passion fruit and smoke.

The cocktail tasted at the bar was really perfect !
I did not tasted a "sour" that good a long time

Rinse a coupe with mezcal and dump. Stir the remaining ingredients (except the grapefruit twist) over ice, then strain into the coupe. Squeeze the grapefruit twist over the drink and discard. No garnish.

Notes

Very similar flavors to the "El Puente" from PDT, but stirred and boozy.

  • Slightly sweet (but used St. Elder rather than St Germain) but otherwise really good.

History

Harry Craddock published the earliest recipe for the Paradise Cocktail. Craddock prepared this cocktail using gin, apricot brandy (apricot liqueur), orange juice in a 2:1:1 ratio, with a splash of lemon juice. This version is David Wondrich's take on this IBA Unforgettable All-Day cocktail
