This is my drink. I would garnish with a large swath of express orange peel and glass is optional. Not sure how it got on here.

Aereo d'Oro

3⁄4 oz Rye (Koval 100% Rye, 80 proof in link)
3⁄4 oz Galliano
3⁄4 oz Aperol
3⁄4 oz Lemon juice
Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and fine strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a thin peel of lemon.

Excellent drink where everything pulls together. I used Bulleit Bourbon and tried first with Kina l'Aero d'Or since Cocchi Americano sometimes provides more cinnamon character than I desire. My wife and I rated the Kina version a full 5/5.. Remade with Cocchi and we both agreed it was still very good, but more of a 4.5/5.

A burly and smoky Mai Tai riff.

History

As I was writing up the blog post for the Mai Tai 3000 and realizing that I had never had a Mai Tai riff with smoky Scotch in it before, I became inspired to create a recipe to take the concept a step further. I took the smoky and burly OFTD-Laphroaig-Sfumato combination that worked well in my Brimstone Colada and kept everything else in line with a classic Mai Tai build. For a name, I dubbed the creation after the devil from the Faust tale, Mephistopheles, for a little alliteration and then shortened it to his nickname.

When I first saw this I was thinking it would be very sweet, since the standard Licor Beirão is quite sweet. Then I looked up this particular bottling, Beirão D’Honra, which adds a brandy to up the proof and knock the sweetness down a notch. I don't have it to experiment with (or rhubarb syrup for that matter) but I do have the standard Licor Beirão. I swear, the standard Licor Beirão has the essence of cake frosting, which, while not unpleasant, is a challenge for cocktails.

The Timberline Thaw

1 1⁄2 oz Gin (Freeland Spirits Forest Gin)
3⁄4 oz Herbal liqueur (Cascadia Liqueur)
3⁄8 oz Aromatized wine, Cocchi Americano
3⁄8 oz Bianco Vermouth, Dolin
1 bsp Genepy, Dolin Genepy des Alpes
2 ds Bitters, Fee Brothers Grapefruit
Instructions

Stir with ice, strain. Add large ice cube and sprig of Douglas Fir.

Notes

The two main ingredients are produced in Portland, OR, so the cocktail name is derived from a local historic attraction, the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood.

Rinse chilled stemmed glass with crème de menthe. Stir; strain; garnish.

Notes

For the infused Cynar, gently stir ~3g loose tea leaves (I used an aged white tea) into a cup of Cynar 70 and let sit for a long afternoon, then strain.
