1 1⁄2 oz Light rum
1⁄2 oz Cherry shrub
3 lf Basil
1 oz Club soda (to top)
Instructions

Muddle cherry and basil in shaker. Add rum and Cointreau, shake, double strain into tall glass over ice and top with soda.

  • I didn't care for this. It's drinkable but I would not make this again. If I were looking for an after-dinner espresso based cocktail I would go for something like an espresso martini.

  • Too sweet for me, whether I swap between white or red grapefruit juice. Easy to drink, but not a balanced celebration of bitterness or Amaro unless you normally drink solely dessert cocktails. For the best chance at balance, use a Navy-Strength gin and do a scant 1/4-oz. pour of the cinnamon syrup. — ★★★

Only dark spirit I had was Laird's and it was really good. I should have used a more bitter vermouth instead of Cocchi Dopo Teatro since I was using applejack, but still really good. Used PF Dry instead of Grand Marnier.
