Acid-adjusted apple juice: Combine 150g apple juice with 5.6g citric acid and 1.8g malic acid.

Mills Ave Manhattan

2 oz Overproof bourbon
2 ds Bitters, Angostura (or other aromatic bitters)
Instructions

In a mixing glass combine all ingredients. With bar spoon stir until cold and pour over large ice cube. Drop in cherry and finish with a flaming orange peel.

History

This cocktail was invented on Mills Ave at the Turansky household! Its a riff on the original manhattan.

Curator's note: with an overproof barrel-strength bourbon this is quite potent, but tasty. Probably best to stick to a 100 or 101. It might not hurt to shave off a bit more proof with Fee Brothers orange bitters and Old Fashion Aromatic (not whiskey barrel aged bitters).


Pelican Swizzle

1 oz Trinidad rum, Zaya
1⁄2 oz Cynar
1⁄2 oz Mezcal
3⁄4 oz Lime juice
1 pn Salt
Instructions

Fill highball with crushed ice and all ingredients. Use a barspoon to swizzle until a frost forms on the outside of the glass. Top with additional ice if needed.

  • I cut back a bit on the lemon juice and sprayed (not rinsed, but an aerosol spray) the glass with creme de violet.

This seems to be galbato's own creation, circa 2019. However their account email is defunct so efforts to reach them several months ago were unsuccessful.

Willa Brown was a female African-American aviation pioneer/activist. The recipe seems to be a tribute to that background by substituting bourbon for gin in the “Aviation”, although none of that is stated in the submission. The drink came out an interesting gray/green/khaki, and tasted as one would expect with the bourbon-for-gin substitution.

A Last Word + Penicillin mashup

Sadly, it seems to need real green Chartreuse. None of the substitutes I've tried have the depth and intensity required to carry the drink.

Note that this is essentially a variation of the "Naked & Famous" recipe, but with a bunch of tequila added, while dialing back the mezcal/Aperol/Yellow Chartreuse slightly.


Crack Baby

33 3⁄8 oz Passion fruit juice
12 1⁄2 oz Vodka
9 3⁄8 oz Chambord
16 oz Strawberry (Hulled and chopped)
25 oz Brut Champagne
Instructions

Add ice, passionfruit juice, vodka, chopped strawberries and Chambord to a blender and blend well.

Pour a Martini glass with 50/50 fruit mixture and champagne.

Stir lightly and serve with a small lime garnish.

Was originally served by Boujis bar in a giant syringe

Popular cocktail back in the mid 90s. Apparently was the favorite cocktail of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.

Porn Star Martini

1 1⁄2 oz Vodka, Absolut Vanilla (Grey Goose La Vanille or Absolut Vanilla)
1⁄2 oz Passion fruit liqueur (Passoã or De Kuyper)
2 oz Passion fruit puree, Boiron
2 bsp Vanilla Sugar
2 oz Brut Champagne
Instructions

Combine all ingredients, except the Champagne, in a mixing tin and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with half of a sliced-open passion fruit. Serve with shot of chilled Champagne on the side.

Notes

Vanilla Sugar:
5 cups granulated sugar
2 vanilla pods

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blitz until integrated. Sift through a sieve before using or storing.

History

The provocatively named cocktail, created at the Townhouse in London in 2003 by Douglas Ankrah, is a Martini in name only, but has gone on to become a modern classic. Made with vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur and passion fruit purée, the final flourish is a shot glass of chilled Champagne served alongside the drink (intended to alternate with the cocktail as a palate cleanser)
