Martinaise
Stir, strain, up, no garnish
Created for my wife's birthday, named after the setting of Disco Elysium and as a cheeky nod to the Martinez which loosely inspired the construction

- La Dura Vita — Gin, Campari, Averna
- Tax the Daisy — Gin, Ramazzotti, Apricot liqueur, Bitters, Orange bitters, Orange peel, Lemon peel
- Solomon Grundy — Gin, Amaro Lucano, Sweet vermouth, Fernet Branca
Potent heat at 79+ proof before ice dilution (Tanqueray base), with aggressive flavors. The earthy rhubarb bite comes through strongly with the juniper, and Averna provides some rich body. Both semi-sweet up front, and semi-bitter, the bitter intensified through the finish. Fragrant. Nothing boring about this intense and aggressive libation. For me it was a 3.5, but I can't see dropping it to a 3, so I'll round to 4.
