History

Just bought a bottle of Stauning Danish Whisky and strega.
The whisky is very nice, half way malt and rye in taste. Balanced. Round. And so generous!!!

If you can grab a bottle, do not doubt.

This is a great combination. I used Bulleit rye and was surprised by how seamlessly the Suze/Strega/Capo blended into one another, creating a complete, finished concoction. The Danish rye looks interesting and would add several new elements over the basic rye I used, but I don't see it available locally.

  • Sweet. Viscous in texture. Flavor in the tobacco/Cynar region, with bitter orange and some interesting floral accents from Gran Classico. 2nd go, mistakenly sprinkled more than a pinch of salt, and didn't hate it. Towards the end a very buttery effect.

Needs a step for straining the drink with cheesecloth from the inevitable curdling when mixing this much acid with dairy (no matter how cold the ingredients are, or how carefully you stir them).

Instructions

1. Add all ingredients into a shaker. Stir to fully dissolve the lemongrass turmeric paste.
2. Add ice and shake vigorously, then strain into a frozen coupe glass.
