This is pretty impressive and makes the Godfather a much more interesting, complex cocktail. The sherry adds a nutty note without all the sweetness of the amaretto and the maraschino adds some lightness.

Mimosa

Instructions

In a wineglass, add chilled juice and top with Champagne.

Notes

The recipe is "in a large wine glass, the juice of half an orange, fill with Champagne, stir and serve". Obviously, this can be adjusted to taste.

History

Perhaps a riff on a Buck's Fizz.

  • Hard to go wrong. The raspberry is surprisingly subtle for a cocktail with this name.

Very easy going - reminds me of a few other rye-based cocktails, but the bonal and raspberry go well together and make this one unique!

  • I may be trying this with various Amaro replacing the Gammel Dansk. It just so happened I like that stuff and had a (old) bottle around. — ★★★★

A very nice, well-crafted combination. The dark cherry is there from the Heering, with the bitters providing a bourbon barrel essence to boost a basic mixing bourbon, while the amaro provides some bittersweet orange, clove, some root and spices. There is a lot of flavor to explore.

Mad Experiment

3⁄4 oz Pepper vodka (green serrano pepper infused)
3⁄4 oz Ginger liqueur, Thatcher's Apple Spice Ginger
3⁄4 oz Lemon juice
1 Pickled pepper (as garnish)
Instructions

Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a pickled pepper

Notes

Two or three peppers soaked in about 200mL of Everclear should infuse sufficiently in about 10-16 hours. Sample occasionally to ensure your infusion does not get too spicy. Strain and dilute with water to taste. Experiment with other peppers too!
