  • To be fair, I shook the Heering into the drink. But I found this cocktail to taste remarkably like a Tootsie Roll! It had me googling whether Tootsie Rolls were truly chocolate. What curious alchemy!
  • Autumn Cocktails
  • The cherry heering slipped right off the ice and sunk to the bottom--so presentation won't win any awards. Tasty, accessible, sweet drink though.

following the recipe to a t, and I found it too sweet. I upped the Pigs Nose to 2 oz and used 1/2 oz of 1:1 honey syrup and voila! A great cocktail in my opinion.

  • Tasty, exotic. I didn't have Martinique rum, used 1.75 cachaca and .25 Lemon Hart Demerara 151. Subbed bitters, used 3 dashes liquid gold, 2 dashes creole and some chinese 5 spice dried spice.

A little help on the basil please. Is it muddled? Just thrown in and shaken with ice? Just garnish?

Midnight Reviver #2

1 oz Bourbon
3⁄4 oz Fernet Branca
3⁄4 oz Ginger syrup
3⁄4 oz Lemon juice
1 lf Mint
Instructions

Run leaf along the inside of the serving glass to express oils. Shake, strain, up, float leaf.

Notes

You want a strong, spicy ginger syrup or liqueur—something milder like Canton will get drowned out by all the other big flavors.

  • Delicious. I really like that the Fernet doesn't take over but is definitely present. My wife gives it a 2 and she hates Fernet, if that says anything. — ★★★★
  • I wasn't expecting this to be so good. Delicious. Industry Sour-like, but the bourbon kinda mellows it out a bit and the ginger plays nice.

  • I’ve been on the hunt for a new pisco drink to try and this was truly fantastic. Was also happy to see Strega as an ingredient (instead of the far more common yellow chartreuse, which I just can’t acquire)—it adds such a great flavor to certain combos! — ★★★★★

  • Very nocino-ey with my nocino. Probably would’ve enjoyed more if I liked nocino more!
  • This is the probably most nocino forward drink I've made yet. Waltnut-ty and delicious.

One of the best nocino cocktails I've had. Fee's Black Walnut tends to dominate drinks, but the Carpano stands up to it and brings out the best in the nocino (I used Sidetrack Distillery). For scotch, I used Famous Grouse. Definitely the right call to use a mild blended scotch so it can take a back seat to the big walnut flavors. Highly recommend.

  • There is no reason to put bitters into this drink. They are totally clobbered by the nocino. Made w/ homemade nocino. Taste was the triumph. Accidently made two extras. That was the mistake.
  • Might need to dial back the Nocino.
