De Rigueur

1 1⁄2 oz Scotch
3⁄4 oz Grapefruit juice (white)
1 t Honey
Instructions

Shake, strain, up, optional grapefruit twist.

Notes

A Scotch Brown Derby that actually predates that cocktail by a few years, first appearing in 1927's Here's How by Judge Jr., and reappearing (with a call for generic "whisky") in the Savoy. The original calls for 1/2 part Scotch to 1/4 part each grapefruit juice and honey, which many modern palates (mine included) find cloying.

applejack commented on 3/23/2019:

Built as indicated, except using Rothman's pear liqueur instead of Merlet.  I found it much too sweet for my palate (which I kinda guessed given the build).  Tried again with 2 oz rum, still too sweet.  Adding .5 oz bourbon to the base recipe (in my case the high rye OGD 100) dried it out and was an improvement for me without changing the flavor profile too much.
