Ingenue

1 1⁄4 oz Dry vermouth
1 1⁄4 oz Manzanilla sherry
3⁄4 oz Gin
2 ds Bitters
1 twst Lemon peel
Instructions

Stir, strain, up, twist.

Notes

Cross between a Bamboo and a Tuxedo, originally named Hanfu for traditional Chinese formalwear (because Panda Tux is a terrible name, and pandas are shiftless and unfortunate animals).

Tuxedo

2 oz Gin
1 twst Lemon peel
Instructions

Stir, strain, up, twist.

Notes

There are five or six cocktails named Tuxedo (at least), all supposedly originating from the same club at the turn of the last century. Here's one of the simpler and, to my palate, better ones.

  • Not sure the spec on the honey ginger syrup is, but this was overpoweringly sweet. If I were to make again, I'd omit entirely and add a little ginger juice or similar and let the Benedictine carry the honey flavors.

  • Went a touch shy on the lemon and liked the balance. Used old granddad bonded. The lemon and pepper are nice together and the maraschino adds some complexity.
  • Refreshing change for a serial Manhattan drinker.

Very tasty. I may cut the lemon juice down to 1/2oz next time.

  • Nice drink although the experience feels a little unfocused.
  • refreshing and interesting, not too difficult to make but also not that complex
  • Used just a bit of simple - nice drink
  • I use a bit of extra cassis and no simple. Fell in love with this cocktail at Clyde Common happy hour in 2015 or so after hiking Forest Park trails. Popular at my house late summer 2017...
  • Used the full 1/2 oz simple and didn't seem too sweet. (I wonder if my cassis is esp. tart.) Accessible like a whiskey sour but more interesting. — ★★★★★

1/2 oz. simple is too much for my taste. I'd start with none and go from there.

  • Not sure what to think about this. It's ok...it's a solid 3. Maybe try with different gin. Used Sage which can overpower some.

Satan's Circus

2 oz Rye
1 oz Campari (Bird Chili Infused)
3⁄4 oz Lemon juice
Notes

The original calls for .75 ounces of chili-infused Campari, but increasing the amount of Campari to 1 or 1.25 ounces balances the Cherry Heering and adds more spice.
