This was good, but seemed not quite balanced. It started out almost salty on the palate. I added a little lime and a bit of club and liked that a little better. Also, I made this with Bombay Sapphire East and I wonder if I should have chosen a gin with a different flavor profile. Not sure the peppery-lemongrass worked in this.

Subbed Select for Campari, included a maraschino cherry for garnish. Pleasantly bitter, with the apple and peach notes balanced by the bitter Ramazzotti. I thought it got tastier as it got warmer.

Created by bar manager Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli, this cocktail was mentioned in our First Taste of Craigie On Main in Cambridge, Massachusetts as having a “spectrum of refreshing flavors. That might account for why it is now the #1 favorite of customers there. It's a great drink for those who think they don't like Scotch. The liquor adds a subtle smokiness, but doesn'€™t overpower. You can substitute your choice of Scotch and use regular simple syrup for the Demerara, but the other brands are pretty much required to get the desired effect.

  • Excellent use of dry sherry. I used fino, which doesn't always play well with other ingredients. Can be a bit briny. But here it works really nicely with both the sweetness in the bourbon and the bitterness in the Ramazzotti. 4.5 if I could.
  • I agree with other user - very clean, citrusy, almost metallic despite having bourbon. Don't skimp on the essential lemon oils! Delightful!
  • Hard to describe taste: I want to say "clean," almost like the water I'd drink from the garden hose as a kid. Metal, citrusy, and bitter on the edges, but easy drinking. — ★★★★

Elderflower Royale

1 oz Elderflower liqueur, St. Germain
1 Sugar cube (small)
10 ds Bitters, Angostura
6 oz Champagne (chilled)
Instructions

Soak sugar cube with bitters and place in the bottom of a chilled champagne flute. Add elderflower liqueur, top with sparkling wine, and serve.

  • Try using Yellow Chartreuse?
  • Too bitter, used blackberry brandy instead of maraschino liquor. Dania says no bitters. Used all ingredients from the recipe. Dania hates bitters. Lol
  • Despite its aggressive name, this is pretty easy-going. The sweet Aperol is foremost. Smokiness is subtle to me though still to much for Friend. Chartreuse still more subtle.
  • Complex w/o being challenging. Perfect cocktail to hook someone who says they don't like tequilla. Beautiful color, too.
  • A bit strange and a bit sweet. Promising. Might be better with less Maraschino and something to dry it out. — ★★★★
