Kentucky Mule (Lumberyard, Laguna Beach, 2014)

1 1⁄2 oz Rye, Bulleit
1⁄4 oz Lemon juice
1⁄2 oz Agave syrup, Partida (ginger infused)
Instructions

Build Shake Top off with Soda.
Toss in Mason Jar
Flaming Orange Twist

History

Curator's note: The history of this very non-standard Kentucky Mule is unclear. The submission from 2014 includes an image of the menu from the Lumberyard, so presumably it was served there. The name has been changed to reflect that.

You forgot the marijuana.

I've always found both Branca products to have a definite pot(still?) funk.

That said:

Jamaican rum, Smith & Cross (marijuana-infused; primo only—no stems, no seeds; Colorado and Washington states only)

Garnish with grated nug.

  • Very nice. Used Courvoisier & Rittenhouse Rye. I appreciate the chocolatey notes - this could easily be a dessert cocktail, or sub for an espresso martini at brunch. I increased proportions by ~ 1/3 to fill a coupe.
  • A bit too chocolatey. Next time only 1 dash bitters
  • Not as dark and thick as I anticipated. Somehow both metallic and chocolatey. Coffee finish.

Do you stutter when you say "Pedro"?

My wife and I thank you for passing this along! 5 star.

I also quite enjoy this with an Armagnac - the extra fruit flavor plays well with the raisin of the sherry.
