Pink Gin
Add bitters to mixing glass and stir down with ice for 1 minute. Add gin and stir for at least another minute. Strain. Up. Lemon twist optional.
Dilution is key here to open up gin.
Tradition has it British navy officers drank pink gins 'in', with angostura, whereas the men took theirs 'out', with merely a swirl, due to relative scarcity and rationing of the bitters on board.
- 10/30/18 - only 2 dashes with Plymouth gin. Good idea for testing out new bitters.
- Barely a cocktail but definitely one of my very favorites. Use good gin.
- Very nice stiff drink. I think I prefer it with 4-5 dashes "in" rather than just rinsing the glass, unless you have a really high quality gin you want to showcase.
- Made with Beefeater 24. Super bitter: 5 dashes might have been 3 or 4 too many! (I notice Wondrich calls for 3 *drops*!) Edit: Use Plymouth Navy and 4 dashes and it gained a star.
