Good, but Fernet-y. Must be in the mood for Fernet. Made with Michter's and smoked ice cube. A good intro to Fernet Branca as the flavor profile is still the most prominent, but more subdued. If some one said "Never had it, would like to try it." I'd make them this.

  • Weirdly lots of sediment and I have no idea what a ginger cherry garnish is supposed to be.

  • Ok, although not as good as I expected — ★★★
  • Had to make do with Dolin. Very Manhattany up front but more interesting on the finish.

If you are a bourbon lover, or if byrrh is your thing, the "Byrrhlesque" is your drink. Smooth, yes! Tasty, oh my! Full-flavored, you bet! I used Four Roses small batch for the bourbon. Others may prefer Maker's Mark or Elijah Craig. Those will work well, as will Jim Beam black label. I rated this libation at 4.0 (but was tempted to push it to 4.5) Mix, stir, strain, and enjoy.

  • Smidge less green chartreuse, smidge more all spice dram.
  • Sweet, smooth with a bit of funk. Blends well.
  • 1. Might try with less Green Chartreuse next time
  • bittersweet amaro-based cocktail that really blends all of its ingredients well
  • good very unique
  • Montenegro plus.
  • Love it
  • Great unusual flavor, looks like a dark boozy cocktail but tastes sweeter. Orange and apple brandy at first with a refreshing spices and chartreuse finish. — ★★★★

Great! Used Vecchio Amaro del Capo instead of Amaro Montenegro.

Agree. Unique. Floral, but the Chartreuse gives the perfect Campari bite.

nice and smooth with a full body if just a bit sweet. I swapped Calvados/Montenegro proportions and liked it more.

Agree on less Chartreuse. 0.75 worked nicely. Preferred with a spicier style Anejo ( I used Herradura). (4 Stars)

Can-Can Martini

2 oz Gin
1⁄2 oz Dry vermouth
1 twst Lemon peel (or orange, as garnish)
Instructions

Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with lemon or orange twist.

Notes

A fragrant, easy to love variation on the classic martini! The bracing, dry flavors of gin and the sweet, floral-fruity flavors of elderflower liqueur balance each other beautifully. Play with the proportions of St. Germain and dry vermouth according to personal preference. I like a good dose of vermouth, but some may prefer to substitute a dry white wine.

  • A sweet floral martini, very tasty and not harsh. The lemon twist and the elderberry play nice together, but it might have just a bit too much St. Germain. Consider reducing the St. Germain to see what it tastes like.
