Mix the ingredients in the Old Fashioned glass filled with ice and garnish with the orange peel.
For a more alcoholic and aggressive version, replace the Cynar with Fernet Branca
Tribute to the character invented by Steinbeck and to all the oppressed workers of the USA.
- Used Wild Turkey 101 rye and Ilegal mezcal joven. The rye overpowered everything. Added 2 drops Boker's bitters to drop the heat. It helped. Also added large ice ball. As is, rated at 3.5.
- Might make again though shots of straight whiskey would seem to have the same effect.
- The Black Rider — Brandy, Mezcal, Cynar
- Papa Was a Rodeo — Mezcal, Cognac, Cynar, Curaçao, Peychaud's Bitters, Orange peel
- Ash Heap of History — Blended Scotch, Islay Scotch, Cynar 70, Amaro, Allspice Dram, Grapefruit peel
- Jacques and Doris — Blended Scotch, Islay Scotch, Peychaud's Bitters, Lavender bitters, Suze, Cane syrup, Grapefruit peel
- Scotch Lodge — Islay Scotch, Cherry Liqueur, Cynar, Sweet vermouth, Orange bitters, Orange peel
Delicious and complex. Scaled up a bit as 1.25 : 1 .25 : 0.75.
Faulkner? Perhaps you meant Steinbeck. I'll still try the drink.
Steinbeck, yes! Lapsus. Thank you. And thanks also to the curator!
