Cynar Toronto
Shake; strain; up.
A Toronto with Cynar subbed in for Fernet.
- Yes, probably can skip the simple. Mocha-like finish is the best part of this. A lemon twist would be in order here.
- Chocolate Manhattan — Rye, Cynar, Bitters, Lemon peel, Brandied cherry
- Silent Partner — Bourbon, Cynar, Bitters, Herbal liqueur, Demerara syrup, Lemon peel, Coffee bean
- Paper Mill — Rye, Cynar, Lemon bitters, Lemon peel
- Lanza — Rye, Cynar, Grapefruit liqueur, Bitters, Lemon peel
- Easy Speak — Bourbon, Cynar, Chocolate bitters, Bitters, Simple syrup, Lemon peel
The simple in this makes no sense to me. In a regular Toronto it is used because there is relatively little sugar in Fernet. But Cynar has lots of sugar. Might be better without added syrup.
I thought the same when I saw the recipe (though it's worth noting that the quantity of simple is cut down here). If I get around to some A/B testing I'll report back!
(This also seems like something I'd stir rather than shake.)
