- Gin And Chinotto — Gin, Chinotto, Orange
Shake, straight pour, top with tonic, garnish with cucumber and fresh mint
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice; strain into a coupe; serve up and express orange peel
Very easy going - reminds me of a few other rye-based cocktails, but the bonal and raspberry go well together and make this one unique!
Dry shake all ingredients; add ice and shake again; double strain; garnish with freshly-grated nutmeg
Stir, strain, coupe
A very nice, well-crafted combination. The dark cherry is there from the Heering, with the bitters providing a bourbon barrel essence to boost a basic mixing bourbon, while the amaro provides some bittersweet orange, clove, some root and spices. There is a lot of flavor to explore.
Flavour packed and well balanced on the sweet side. Excellent !
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled champagne coupe and garnish with a sprig of thyme.
Can also be served "down" with a block of ice and a lemon twist.
Named after a traditional Scottish folk song.
Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a pickled pepper
Two or three peppers soaked in about 200mL of Everclear should infuse sufficiently in about 10-16 hours. Sample occasionally to ensure your infusion does not get too spicy. Strain and dilute with water to taste. Experiment with other peppers too!
Curated slightly to express pepper infusion better and scale from parts to a reasonably-sized drink.
Shake on ice. Strain. Serve up with Rainier cocktail cherry
Aguardiente is an anise-flavoured liqueur derived from sugar cane, popular in Colombia. Lighter and less sweet than Sambuca.
Combine gin, lemon, syrup, vanilla, and egg white/aquafaba and shake with ice. Strain back into shaker and then dry shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with several drops of lavender bitters.
Stir all ingredients with ice. Serve up. Garnish with orange peel and/or Luxardo cherry.
Not as sweet as one might think.
A great cocktail for bourbon lovers. I had to scramble for ingredients. Lacking Elijah Craig Bourbon (it got finished off last November) I reached for Woodford Reserve. And lacking R & W cherry liqueur, I grabbed for Luxardo liqueur. Together, these ingredients made this wonderful libation. But, I suspect that Black Forest Cocktail would have been in the 4.0 range had I the called for ingredients. As it was, I rated Black Forest Cocktail 4.5 with what I could pull down from my shelves. A great cocktail, regardless!
It's worth noting for the record that Rothman and Winter cherry liqueur and Luxardo maraschino liqueur are radically different in flavor profile (though either might well work in this drink!).
I used Cherry Heering because ... it was there. Not bad, but we felt it needed something to round it out a little. Maybe turn it into a flip with a whole egg?
A bit too strong for me.
Just tried this; the only cherry liquor I have is Luxardo, but it was quite serviceable. It's a delightful drink!
Build in a double rocks over ice and stir.
This particular Cava is very high-acid and salty. Your mileage may vary.
