  • Solid but not mind-blowing.
  • MUST TRY
  • Made with tea-infused M&R. Would probably be worth trying with Carpano Antica. — ★★★

Ransom, Remy and Carpano Antica -- while these great tastes should taste great together, this drink is missing an acid component that a couple of extra shots of bitters can't help.  I have dry Curaçao but I'm not sure that would do the trickk

Notes

Death & Co drinks often include minute amounts of complex, expensive liqueurs and spirits, often including one or more Chartreuse and a split base, yet they achieve a delicate, delicious balance. This is an attempt at a D&Co-style drink.

Used Havana selección de maestros,  and it was far too sweet for me.

Mostly gran Classico flavor.

  • Whoops. Made this with London dry and thought it was fantastic. Old Tom might be too sweet. Might just keep doing that.

  • really tasty, there is a lot going on. minty, liquoricy, slightly smokey. would be interested to see what maraschino added instead of sugar.
Similar cocktails

Beautiful nose, but oddly metallic finish. I used a mellow Speyside scotch, which may have not mixed well.

Tombstone

1 1⁄2 oz Gin
1⁄2 oz Mezcal
1 rinse Absinthe
Instructions

Stir, strain, up.

Notes

A dry gin Martini crossed with Audrey Saunders' Dreamy Dorini Smoking Martini, with an assist from Kindred Cocktails user Jennx's Mezcal Martini. Name's a tip of the hat to the Obituary Cocktail.

  • This is a fairly clean tasting cocktail. I forgot to add the scotch, but I keep some Laphroaig in a mister and gave it a couple nice sprays to finish it off.
  • Nice smoke element
  • If you like smoke and like martinis, you'll like this. Actually the smoke is gentler than expected, and a bit sour/salty (effectively serving as the martini's "olive").

Jennx commented on 11/16/2014:

Nice! This has all my favorite things. I didn't have a Laphroaig like Scotch. Used Aberlour A'Bunadh which is all carmel, no smoke, but that tasted really good too.

Another good one, Rafa. Ilegal is about the best mezcal I can get here. It's not bad by any means, but I bet the drink is spectacular with a really good one.
