Smokey the Blackberry

2 oz Tequila, Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver
2 lf Sage
Instructions

Muddle blackberries with lime juice and agave. Add citronge and tequila.
Invert glass with salt/sugar rim over two smoking sage leaves. Add smoked sage leaves to above and shake vigorously over ice.
Strain into ice filled prepared glass and garnish with another blackberry, sage leaf and expressed lemon rind. Top with a spritz of mezcal if desired.

Ginger Turmeric Margarita

1 1⁄2 oz Blanco tequila
1⁄2 oz Turmeric syrup

Instructions

Everything in a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain. Serve on the rocks in a glass rimmed with tajin.

Notes

I used Monin's Golden Turmeric syrup, but you can easily make your own.

Instructions

Rinse a rocks glass with absinthe and Peychaud's Bitters. Add one large rock. Stir all other ingredients with ice and strain into the rocks glass. Twist an orange peel above the glass and discard.

Notes

I was in the mood for anise and smoke, and a little on the sweet side. This fit the bill quite nicely, so I thought I would share.

The Last Worm

3⁄4 oz Mezcal, Banhez

Instructions

Shake all ingredients together and strain over ice into a lowball glass rimmed with sal de gusano (worm salt). Garnish with a dried lime slice

History

Based on Peter Povlsen's "word from Jalisco" - I omitted the smoked salt from the drink and rimmed the glass with Sal de Gusano, also increased the pineapple syrup slightly
