Summer Siesta
Muddle the berries and syrup, add other ingredients and stir. Serve over crushed ice and garnish with strawberries and cucumber.
I prefer to leave the simple syrup out.
- Miss Scarlet — Gin, Cynar, Bitters, Grenadine, Lime juice
Muddle the berries and syrup, add other ingredients and stir. Serve over crushed ice and garnish with strawberries and cucumber.
I prefer to leave the simple syrup out.
Add ingredients to a shaker without ice and shake vigorously to emulsify egg white. Add ice, shake again, and stain into a tall Collins glass, sans ice.
Muddle cucumber and mint; add liquids and ice, shake and strain
Made this with St. George "Botanivore" and lemon juice. Excellent.
I used two full mint leaves but the cucumber overpowers the mint a bit.
Next time, I'll use only one cucumber slice.
I thought this was really refreshing. I'm not a huge gin fan, but this was extremely well balanced. I even used Tanquerey opposed to a couple of our less Juniper-heavy gins we tend to favor. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I intend to have this gin cocktail again this summer.
Muddle cherries, add liquids, shake and strain
Definitely halve the amount of Maraschino; (and I love overly Maraschino'ed cocktails as a rule); but otherwise nice drink..
Shake and strain with one of the cherries; top with soda and garnish with the second cherry
Very good, light and refreshing but still interesting. I'll try a little less St. Germain next time as this is a bit on the sweet side.
Agreed with Christina - reducing St Germain to 3/4 oz is an improvement, as is muddling the cherries before shaking. I also prefer it with Tanqueray instead of Plymouth. Very good as written but excellent with those changes!
Great drink for non-drinkers. Subbed Averna with Vecchio de Capo and even better.
Shake and strain, top with soda, garnish with lemon twist.
Delicious! A bit sweet and very refreshing. The grapefruit doesn't stand out too much but enhances the other flavors.
Shake and strain, garnish with orange twist
This sounded so good, but just tasted flat. Maybe eliminating the orange juice would help.
Shake and strain
Aperol was suggested as a sub for rhubarb syrup- I thought this worked very well when I tried it. See website for rhubarb syrup recipe.
Tried with 1/2 oz Aperol and 2 dashes of Rhubarb bitters. Was really good.
Wow... a gem from a decade ago! Rhubarb can be found off season in Whole Foods freezer chests. I think that I made this to better utilize the syrup that I generated to make Ciaran Wiese's Old New York Cocktail: https://cocktailvirgin.blogspot.com/2009/05/old-new-york-cocktail.html
Fixed the missing Chartreuse quantity and added the attribution.
Thanks for catching that
Shake, strain, straight up, cocktail glass
Doug Ford of Cold-glass.com substituted Lemon Hart Demerara for Rhum Agricole.
Dernier Mot means Last Word in French. The Last Word uses gin rather than rhum.
This rummy variation is so good. I used the Clement VSOP ( I am no rum expert, but really love this stuff) . Seems the chartreuse/maraschino/citrus combo is good to a variety of spirits.
Curated to improve attribution and clarify authentic ingredients.
