Babette's Supper Club
Stir and strain into chilled coupe; add lemon twist.
Other sweet amaros can also work.
Babette's Supper Club was a popular drinking/entertainment spot in Atlantic City during Prohibition. It is featured prominently in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. This cocktail has no connection to the spot other than I enjoy the HBO show and wanted to name the creation after this locale.
- The Irons — Rye, Aperol, Orange Curaçao, Bitters, Lemon peel
- Cherry Bomb — Bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, Cherry Liqueur, Bitters
- Orange Union — Bourbon, Campari, Wolfberger Amer Orange, Triple sec, Orange peel
- Bonal & Rye — Rye, Bonal Gentiane Quina, Triple sec, Orange bitters, Bitters, Orange peel
- The Revenant — Cognac, Virgin Islands Rum, Grapefruit liqueur, Ramazzotti, Orange peel
I didn't have the exact same ingredients, but I tried a variation with
1 1⁄2 oz bourbon (Maker's Mark)
1⁄2 oz Bittermens Citron Sauvage (a grapefruit bitter liqueur that has both bitterness and surprising acidity, so I skipped the bitters and twist)
1⁄2 oz Cynar (what I had on hand)
1⁄2 oz Ancho Reyes chili liqueur (definitely try adding this if you have it)
and it was really delicious!
