  • A bit sweet and unctuous, but quite good. A very nice drink if someone wants a rich/warm/strong drink that still is quite sweet. I would probably dilute for even longer.
  • On the sweet side... the other ingredients really mesh well with the Averna.
  • Perfect.

  • 2nd try used, Elijah Craig Bourbon. Next try, use Jim Beam black label (has more body). Switch from West Indies Orange bitters to Blood Orange Bitters for comparison.

Lovely. I used Bond & Lillard bourbon, Punt e Mes and my own blood orange bitters. Very chocolatey.

  • It's rare that I have a drink that I feel takes me in a totally new direction. With the beer bitterness, fruitiness, and spice from pepper, this one really did.
  • Had this last year. One of the better drinks I've had at PDT. Elegant and deep.

Polar Bear

1 1⁄2 oz Mezcal, Pierde Almas La Puritita Verda
1⁄2 oz Crème de Menthe (white)
6 dr Angelica tincture
Instructions

Shake, double strain, up.

Notes

From Trick Dog's Pantone menu, where every cocktail was named after a color of the Pantone wheel.
Liquor.com suggests celery bitters as a possible sub for the angelica tincture.

Curated to replace broken starchefs.com link with a working one for liquor.com, and added the note I found there about tincture substitution.

Non-drinkable concoction, tried it with celery bitters in lieu of the angelica tincture. Sometimes the ingredients you’d never expect mixed together should indeed not be mixed.

Run, Run, As Fast As You Can

2⁄3 oz Ginger Wine, Stone's
1 oz Averna
1⁄2 oz Rum, Smith & Cross
1 twst Lemon zest
2 t Mezcal (Float)
Instructions

Stir, strain, big rock. Squeeze lemon and drop in.

Notes

Using Ramazziotti rather than Averrna makes this a You Can't Catch Me - to my taste, a slightly better drink. The Mezcal makes it magic.

Ramazzotti version on the left; Averna on the right.
