2 oz Rum, Plantation Grand Reserve 5 year
1⁄2 oz Cherry Liqueur, Luxardo
1⁄2 oz Elderflower liqueur, St. Germain
1⁄2 oz Lemon juice
2 oz Apple cider
2 ds Bitters, Angostura
Instructions

Combine all ingredients with ice and stir. Strain into an old-fashioned glass and add large ice cube

Moderated slightly for style and to consolidate ginger snap liqueur into ginger liqueur. I presumed that the pinch of nutmeg was the garnish, and was not in the shaker.

The Renegade

1 1⁄2 oz Scotch, Glenlivet 12yr
3⁄4 oz Cranberry shrub
2 oz Club soda
1 twst Orange peel
1 ds Peychaud's Bitters
1 Brown sugar
Instructions

Place brown sugar cube in mixing glass and add bitters.Muddle. Then add scotch, ice and shake. Strain in collins glass over fresh ice. Top with Club Soda, and garnish.

Shake with ice. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

Notes

Cook fresh figs with 1 cup water and 1 cup honey. Simmer & remove from heat as soon as boiling begins. Push through strainer and refrigerate.

History

Renamed from Fig Martini, since it isn't, well, a Martini. It resembles a Bee's Knees, but with fig and lime in lieu of lemon.

Sounds very good, and a reason to finally get some Fee Black Walnut Bitters. Republished as a Fig Bee's Knees, since it is not a Martini-style cocktail. The original poster is welcome to rename it so long as the name conforms to any well-established drinks referenced in the name.

Great cocktail! I enjoyed one of these last weekend at the Eastern Standard.

When I asked for the recipe, I was told they cut the Luxardo Maraschino Liquor with a 1:1 simple syrup for this cocktail. Sure enough, when I mixed this up at home according to the ratios here, I found the drink was overpowered with the Maraschino flavor!

Thoughts, anyone?

Following a discussion about why you can't make Manhattan variants with Scotch, I made this with Monkey Shoulder and recommend the result. Maybe a little sweeter than with rye, and almost certainly needs a new name. Tartan Hook?

When I got the recipe years ago, they never mentioned cutting it. And I just got a copy of their bar bible, and it is a 1/2 oz Maraschino and no simple syrup. I've made it at work plenty with 1/2 oz Maraschino and it tastes just like I remember it.

I made this with Plymouth gin, Pür Likör Blood orange, and Employees Only Grenadine. It was very good. All the various herbal notes played well together. I also tried it with New Deal Aviation gin. The Plymouth was the best, though.

My coffee liqueur is from House Spirits, and I used a lemon twist since that is what I had. I like how the sherry comes through, and it pairs really well with the coffee and spicy herbal flavors from the other ingredients.

Autumn Bonfire

1 oz Applejack, Lairds 100 proof
1 oz Scotch, Bowmore 12
1 oz Apple cider
1 t Maple syrup
1 ds Bitters, Brooklyn Hemispherical Bitters Black Mission Fig
Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass (or serve over fresh ice in a rocks glass). Garnish with an apple fan or a slice of apple.
