1⁄2 oz Luxardo Bitter Bianco
1 1⁄2 oz Pineapple juice
1⁄2 oz Lime juice
2 oz Soda water
1 spg Mint (as garnish)
Instructions

Fill a highball glass with ice cubes and add the soda water. Shake the rest with ice and strain into the highball. Garnish with the mint sprig and serve with a straw.

Rose Plane

2 dr Salt Solution
1 twst Lemon peel (optional, expressed onto paper plane garnish)
Instructions

Shake with ice, double-strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Optional paper plane garnish--lemon coin expressed onto it before attaching plane to edge of glass. (He didn't express the peel into the drink itself, but I prefer to.)

Notes

Finally found a paper plane variation that I really like. Generally, I find the original paper plane to be somewhat imbalanced in terms of acidity vs. sweet. This riff substitutes Jameson Irish Whiskey for the bourbon, and Ramazzotti Rosato Aperitivo for the Aperol, while adding two drops of saline. In this cocktail the rosato acts somewhat as elderflower liqueur does, while also filling in for the orange aperitivo.

History

I became inspired by the Maraschino, ginger, and lime trio in the Hitman from Dutch Kills and I mashed it up with the Ferrari (Fernet-Campari duo). Previously, I did a similar Ferrari mashup in the Blank Hand Society using the Gilda as the other inspiration point. For a name, I dubbed this one the Ghost Rider after a 1977 song from the synth-punk band Suicide that was a nod to a Marvel Comics character.

History

I became inspired by the Nautical Mile with London Dry Gin and Calvados that I had the night before. I soon mashed up those spirits with the modifiers of Ce Soir, and I dubbed it Save the Robots after an after-hours club in New York City's East Village that I rediscovered in the book St. Marks is Dead and recalled from my time living in Manhattan in the early 90s.

Citrusy, refreshing, summery drink. The volume of this drink is a little strange, but the balance is there. If you want a tarter drink you can take out or dial back the simple syrup, but I think it rounds it out nicely.
