Blue Wisteria

1 1⁄2 oz Gin, Citadelle
3⁄4 oz Blueberry syrup
3⁄4 oz Lemon juice
1 ds Chinese 5 spice bitters, Barkeep
1 ds Fennel bitters
Instructions

Shake all ingredients with ice for 15 seconds, strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a single star anise pod.

Notes

For the blueberry syrup, juice blueberries (I use an Omega Vert) and add equal parts sugar and a half part of water. Alternately puree equal parts blueberries and sugar with half part of water in a blender, and then strain. I wouldn't suggest doing a high heat stove top syrup.

Instructions

In coupe, add a big ice cube (4 to 8 the size of a normal ice cube) or a round ice cube, pour ingredients. Stir a bit. Serve

Notes

Adding the ingredients turned Chinato into a fine and bittered sweet vermouth.
Orange cream citrate makes the difference.

Instructions

In a double Old Fashioned glass full of cracked ice add Tagliatella and tonic, stir to combine, float Bourbon.

Notes

Nardini Tagliatella is a blend of grappa, cherry distillate, bitter orange, herbs and spices. At 70 proof, it's got an interesting chocolate note and while it's fruity, it's not cloying.
