Tasty drink, although perhaps a touch less Fernet would get a better balance. It definitely comes through loud and clear. Still delicious as is.

  • Strong flavors but they're in small enough quantities that they don't overpower.
Similar cocktails

I like the complexity and the bitterness but couldn't get past a few sips - the drink is too boozy (or too boozy for me). Perhaps, I would cut the gin, china-china, and absinthe portions in half.

  • The subtle pineapple makes this a worthy member of the Gin/Chartreuse/Lime family (though it lacks the complexity of the Last Word) Almost halved the simple but still a tad sweet. Would halve next time. — ★★★★
  • Lovely cocktail ... I dropped the simple to 1/2 --- I think Yellow Chartreuse might be fit better from a flavor standpoint --- I will try next time and report back — ★★★★
  • Made with Olympia, and skinny syrup measure per comments. Nice texture, but the tastes somewhat cancel each other out. Maybe a London dry was the wrong gin to use here. Reminds me of citrus pulp.
  • Tasty and refreshing. A nice spring cocktail, but with some depth - not frivolous. The Chartreuse is pretty prominent. I muddled pineapple and substituted a teaspoon of powdered sugar and a splash of water for the simple. — ★★★★★
  • A little too sweet. Slightly less simple next time.

  • I used 1 1/2 oz rye, 1/2 oz St Germaine, 1/2 oz Aperol, 1/2 lemon juice, 1/4 simple
  • Unsurprisingly, mostly rye and lemon. Aperol lends a nice color but neither it nor the Elderflower really registers.

  • Good balance, sweet, but not too much. — ★★★★
  • Perfectly refreshing summer drink! Used 3/4 oz St Germain. Also good with a couple of peppercorns as suggested in another comment (I used white pepper).
  • Wow! Beautiful and completely delicious. Refreshing and surprisingly complex.5
  • Good, boozy/balanced drink. I agree, could cut back the St. Germain. Also could be interesting to try muddling with a few pepper grounds to balance out the sweetness. Made with Sutler's small batch gin.
  • Use 3/4 oz St. Germain for less sweet
  • Delicious, but a little bit on the sweet side, maybe try with 3/4 oz St Germain Made with Plymouth gin, try with higher proof gin like Tanqueray Ten — ★★★★★

Second time I made this, I lowered St-Germain to .75, that helps. Also muddled with 3 black peppercorns to give it a touch of spiciness. *****

4.5/5, rounding up. I mostly skip elderflower (and cynar) drinks as being overdone/overused. But in this case the elderflower brings out the best of the fresh strawberry, balanced by the lemon juice. The strawberry is amped up in a pleasant way which the Junipero stands up to. The elderflower is there but does not dominate. Lovely color, nose, and flavor.

Substituting Cardamaro for the vermouth is nice too.
